South Florida Weather Update
Happy Sunday, South Florida! I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend. South Florida has been experiencing high temperatures recently, with heat warnings in place for most of July. Temperatures have been soaring into the triple digits, making it feel extremely hot. This morning, South Florida woke up to temperatures in the 80s, with the heat index in the 90s. Heat warnings have been issued for Miami and Broward counties until 6 p.m., with temperatures feeling like 105 to 109 degrees.
Unlike Saturday, today’s weather brings some changes to South Florida. A layer of Saharan dust has spread across the region, creating hazy skies. Showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon as a front lingers to the north of our area. Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 90s, but it will feel much warmer. A heat warning is in effect from 6 p.m.

Upcoming Weather Changes
Looking ahead, South Florida can expect more changes in the coming week. Increased moisture in the area will lead to a high chance of rain and storms through the first half of the week. Daily downpours and thunderstorms will continue into Tuesday before the rain chances begin to decrease as dry air moves back into the region.

Tropical Weather Alert
While South Florida enjoys a relatively quiet end to the work week, attention needs to be paid to the tropics. An area of unsettled weather in the tropical mid-Atlantic could develop into a tropical depression by midweek. This disturbance is expected to interact with tropical waves, potentially impacting the northern Leeward Islands, Greater Antilles, or southwest Atlantic. Models are uncertain about development, but South Florida should monitor the situation closely.

Don’t forget to bring your rain gear this afternoon!
