The Accusations Against Courtney Mallory, the Coconut Creek Bank Robber
A Coconut Creek man, Courtney Mallory, has been accused of robbing two banks near Boca Raton and Delray Beach, allegedly getting away with over $20,000 in each heist. He was apprehended on Wednesday on two counts of bank robbery, with the first incident taking place a week ago.
The Robberies and Modus Operandi
The initial robbery occurred on June 5 at the Truist Bank on State Road 441 in West Boca. Dressed in gloves, a black hoodie, and a blue face mask, Mallory reportedly entered the bank around 9:30 a.m. He brandished what seemed to be a black semiautomatic handgun at the bank tellers, coercing them to empty the register and escort him to the vault, where he compelled them to hand over additional funds, making his escape with more than $20,000.
A second robbery took place on July 12 at the Bank of America near Delray Beach. Again, Mallory brandished a gun, demanded money from the teller, and attempted to access the vault. However, this time, the manager refused to comply, although Mallory still managed to flee with more than $20,000.
Evidence and Arrest
FBI agents utilized various resources, including closed-circuit television footage, phone records, and the vehicle parked near the crime scenes, eventually linking Mallory to the robberies. Subsequent searches of his residence led to the discovery of incriminating items, such as cash, clothing worn during the heists, and a phone with searches related to the crimes.
Following the findings, Mallory was arrested, and his first court appearance took place in West Palm Beach. A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for July 25 in the same location.
