Director Dan Maloney expressed his delight at the birth, stating that both mother and baby are in good health and being closely monitored by the zoo staff. This significant birth is part of the Masai Giraffe Species Survival Plan, a program aimed at maintaining genetic diversity in managed animal populations. The zoo encourages visitors to support the new calf and its mother by donating through their website.
